JD Hologram Developer Kits

  • JD hologram developer and bleach kit

The JD processing kits are the most widely used pre-packaged developer and bleach solution used by holographers today.

Each kit includes all the photochemistry and step-by-step instructions you need to process your holograms. Just add water, and be done processing your holograms in as little as 3 minutes.

Each kit processes up to thirty 2.5" x 2.5" plates, twelve 4"x5" plates, or twenty sheets of 4" x 5" film.

  • "It was so easy to make the chemical solutions and create holograms."

Summary: How to Use the JD kits

Optimized under the direction of Dr. Tung H. Jeong, the JD holography processing kits provide a convenient and inexpensive alternative to buying and mixing your own chemicals. Just add cold water to the pre-measured dry chemicals in the kit to create stock solutions for the developer and bleach. No fixer is needed. You can process one to several holograms at at time in as little as 3 minutes.

I. Prepare the stock solutions

Mix the pre-measured chemicals pouches found in the JD kit with filtered or distilled water to create 1 liter solutions for Part A, Part B, and Bleach. When you're ready to begin your lab session, combine Part A and Part B to create your Developer.

II. Process your holograms

  1. Slip the film plate into the Developer and agitate for 20 seconds until it is dark
  2. Rinse in water for 20 seconds
  3. Agitate in bleach for 20 seconds until clear
  4. Rinse again in water for 20 seconds
  5. To dry the hologram, blow it with a hairdryer for 1 minute or let it dry naturally

Depending on the condition of your lab environment and holographic film plate, you can extend each of the above steps up to 3 minutes to achieve the result you desire. Also optionally, soak the holographic film plate in FormaFlo solution for 20 seconds before the drying step above.

Though the chemical solutions created with the JD kits are considered non-volatile, it’s always a good idea to use the chemicals in a ventilated area and follow safety precautions. Chemicals should be used under adult supervision.

IMPORTANT: You should read and understand all instructions and safety notices that accompany the JD kits. The kit instructions also provide extra tips for making extra clear and brilliant holograms. Abridged instructions can also be found on our website.

Material Safety Data Sheets

We are pleased to provide you copies of the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) from our suppliers here in .pdf format.

Note that the MSDS for each JD kit totals 40+ pages since the chemical components are packaged separately in each kit and thus require separate explanations.
